I like this idea, so I've thought about it some and written out some goals for myself for the coming year.
Here are some of my goals for 2007:
- Learn to write every day. (Minimum: 30 mins. Ideal: 2 hours.)
- Learn to meditate (do ki breathing) every day. (Minimum: 30 mins. Ideal: 1 hour.)
- Find a good post-graduate school teaching or teaching-related job. Such a job should (ideally) fill these requirements: increased my teaching skill and experience; pay me enough to live with some comfort and pay back my student loans and other debts; take me abroad, ideally to London or nearby.
- Develop and pursue a very challenging, healthy exercise routine that helps me increase strength, flexibility, and endurance, as well as cardiovascular health. (Ideally, it will incorporate principles like those followed by the athletes at Gym Jones.)
- Improve my proficiency and fluency with French
- Produce a manuscript for my first book of poems
- Actively submit writing to journals and contests and fellowships
- Save some money

I guess there's a good reason they include the "I" in the acronym, eh?
Jeez. You're really into keeping me respectable and stuff. Damn. There goes my scraggly bachelordom. ;-) Actually, I appreciate it. Sans ton aide, I'd only cut my hair when I really got fed up w/its length & look, because I'm cheap that way.
Qu'est-ce que c'est mon poignet? Oh, wrist. Comme poignard? No, that's a little dagger.
actually that was a typo, it's IASS: Istitute of Aikido Summer School. The name of our school is, as you might have guessed, the Institute of Aikido.

I love how you correct yourself as you type, Mr I type faster than I think :p
Nice blog, good goals, have you ever checked out the nanowrimo website??? If not, give it a look see. Have a great day!
Thanks! I have checked out NANOWRIMO, though I haven't yet tried it out. Last year and the year before, it was because I was in grad school and focusing on poetry. Prior to that, it was because I...um...didn't. I certainly like the idea of it. Maybe I'll try for it this year. I do have a couple novels sitting in my head, and it would be a good way to get them out onto the page.
